ICCI and ACCA sign MoU for collaboration September 07, 2012
Meeting at ICCI
Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) and Association of Certified Chartered Accountant (ACCA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to work together to achieve and promote the highest professional, ethical and governance standards, advance the public interest and to support the accounting profession and business community by building both capacity and capability.
The agreement was signed by Yassar Sakhi Butt, President ICCI and Shamez Mukhi, Head of Public Affairs ACCA Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, President ICCI said that the partnership between ICCI and ACCA would serve to mutually benefit the business community and the accountancy profession at large. ACCA’s work on the Research and Insights front has been remarkable which would enable us to strengthen relationships with the business community further, he added.
Yassar Sakhi Butt said that Government should ensure development of a comprehensive Information Communication technology (ICT) infrastructure in the length and breadth of the country along with opening of training institutes throughout Pakistan for providing training to entrepreneurs on specially discounted packages so that majority of businessmen could be well trained to utilize ICT for bringing improvement in all functional areas of their enterprises and promoting businesses.
Shamez Mukhi, Head of Public Affairs ACCA Pakistan said that ACCA Pakistan eagerly seeks to create synergies with regulators like ICCI. He said that we seek value addition for business enterprises and our members to enable them achieve effective outputs and outcomes. This partnership between ICCI and ACCA Pakistan is unique and may prove to be cornerstone for other similar progressive initiatives, he maintained.
Following the signing ceremony, ACCA Pakistan and ICCI also organized a session on ‘Transforming Finance Function to e-Professional’. Muhammad Uzair, Director Internal Audit, Tourism Promotion Services (Ltd) spoke on e-learning and e-assessment practices, offering solutions to create a better learning experience, as well as developing more challenging and realistic tests of skills and competences. Komail Abbas Badami, Partner Badami Law Associates, and Member, ACCA Pakistan Members Network Panel conducted a workshop on e-filing.  Munir Malik, Financial Controller, Premier Oil Pakistan Holdings B.V, and Member, ACCA Pakistan Members Network Panel was also present on the occasion.
