Cuban Envoy invites ICCI to participate in Havana international trade fair September 20, 2012

Cuba and Pakistan have maintained a good level of cooperation which has broaden and deepen the cooperation in various sectors, whereas private sectors of both countries should come forward to exploit trade opportunities.

H.E.Mr. Jesus Zenen Buergo Concepcion, Ambassador of Cuba in Pakistan has made these remarks, while in a meeting with Yassar Sakhi Butt, President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI).

The Ambassador invited Pakistani business community to explore opportunities in the upcoming international trade fair in Havana which will be held from 4 to 10 November, 2012. He said that Havana international fair is one pf the most important commercial events in Latin America and the Caribbean with an average attendance of 60 foreign countries.

The Ambassador said that Cuba has very good relations with China, Russia, Iran, Brazil and Latin America, Algeria and Mexico. He expressed positive views over the export potential of Pakistani rice, textile, leather and sports and surgical goods in the Cuban market and said that business people from Pakistan would take this advantage through the assistance of the Chambers of Commerce of both the countries.

In his welcome address, Yassar Sakhi Butt, President ICCI said that this is the right time to focus Latin American markets and measures are required to be taken for improving trade relations between Pakistan and the Latin American region. He was of the view that investment cooperation was another area in which Pakistan and Cuba could collaborate for mutual benefits

He said that there were no direct flight connectivity between Pakistan and Cuba which was hindering the trade potential of both countries. Cuba should develop good relations with Middle East countries that would provide a gateway for boosting mutual trade between Cuba and Pakistan, he added. 

Yassar Sakhi Butt said that Cuban businessmen should consider Pakistan for joint ventures in the area of common interest. Thus, Cuban businessmen should establish direct trade links with Pakistani counterparts that would ultimately enhance bilateral economic relation, he emphasized.
