Simple tax procedures will improve tax collection November 12, 2012
Meeting at ICCI
 
All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajran president and former MNA from Faisalabad, Mian Abdul Manan visited Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) for congratulating Mr.Zafar Bakhtawari on his election as President of ICCI.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Zafar Bakhtawari, President ICCI said that businessmen are facing numerous problems due to high input cost and an acute shortage of energy. He said that our country would not be able to move on the economic front without resolving these issues.
 
He said that equitable taxation among all sectors of economy, broadening of the tax base and honest utilization of tax proceeds would help Pakistan make the business community confident and move towards sustainable growth. The broadening of tax base was critical, but needed to be done in an equitable way, he maintained.
 
ICCI President said that the complicated tax procedures were creating troubles for the businessmen and FBR should facilitate taxpayers for making these procedures more simple and easy. 
 
Mr.Bakhtawari was of the view that the solution to slow economic growth lies in the revival of progressive taxation policies and improved tax collection system. He urged the Government to broaden the tax net by bringing all the sectors into the tax net which were currently not being taxed and rendering a permanent revenue shortfall in the National Exchanger.
 
ICCI President said urged to create a culture where businessmen should be given respect and houour so that they could concentrate to buildup the economy of the country. He also urged the political leadership of the country to change the leadership in the parliament from feudal class to the business class.  
 
All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajran president, Mian Abdul Manan said that unnecessary taxes should not be imposed on businessmen especially small traders, who were already facing various challenges due to power hike and other core issues.
