ICCI President stresses to explore youth entrepreneurial potential February 07, 2013

Future of Pakistan lies in the hands of its youth as our youth possess immense potential and talent that must be exploited in the positive way to harness their skills and capabilities.

Mr.Zafar Bakhtawari, President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) made these remarks while congratulating, Ms.Sidra Nadeem, student of EME College of NUST for winning 2nd week CAAYE University Marathon organized by Commonwealth CAAYE Summit in Mumbai. 
 
President ICCI said that Pakistan is a country of relatively young population with 60 percent of its population, therefore, ICCI is the first Chamber of Pakistan that focused on youth development and organized many conferences, forums and seminars inviting youth and university students.
 
Mr.Bakhtawari said that Islamabad Chamber had also created a dedicated Young Entrepreneurs Forum YEF and Entrepreneurship Development Centre to focus on promoting youth entrepreneurship activities and provide guidance to youngsters for adopting entrepreneurship as a career. 
 
He said that Islamabad Chamber has created strong linkages with universities, with whom MOUs have already been signed for inculcating entrepreneurial sprit in youth. He further said that effective promotion of female entrepreneurs would have to take account of the specific needs of women entrepreneurs and by providing them significant support. He emphasized upon the government to implement specific actions or measures to particularly support female entrepreneurship. 
 
Mr. Shaban Khalid, Chairman Young Entrepreneurs Forum ICCI appreciated Ms.Sidra Nadeem for winning CAAYE University Marathon and said that it is matter of great honour for NUST university as well as for all Pakistani Youth.  
 
He said that Commonwealth CAAYE Summit represents 8 countries from the Commonwealth Asia region, namely Malaysia, India, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Brunei, Maldives with the focus to share best practices and prepare recommendations for improving “access to finance” to young entrepreneurs. 
 
Col.(R).Dr.Farooq Azam, Dean Faculty of Management Sciences and Associate Professor at EME College, NUST lauded the initiatives of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry for youth entrepreneurship development and highlighted the importance of youth entrepreneurship for economic development of the country.
