Palestine Envoy for focusing On Pak- Palestine trade cooperation April 29, 2013

Pakistan and Palestine need to focus on developing bilateral trade cooperation to create better economic opportunities for their people. This was observed by H.E. Mr. Walid A.M. Abu Ali, Ambassador of Palestine while addressing the business community at Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry. 

He said that Pakistan and Palestine have recently agreed to constitute a joint commission comprising of Foreign Ministers of the two countries to expand the existing political cooperation into other areas including economy, agriculture, banking, education and social and cultural sectors and hoped that this commission would play a positive role in developing bilateral trade relations between the two countries as well.
 
Mr. Walid A.M.Abu Ali expressed thanks to the government and people of Pakistan for always providing unflinching support to the just cause of people of Palestine for their right to self-determination. He also thanked the whole Muslim Ummah for supporting the principled stand of Palestine for independence at all relevant forums. He was especially grateful to the President of Pakistan for offering a grant of one million dollars for construction of Palestine Embassy in Islamabad which showed the great interest of Pakistan to further promote its relations with Palestine.
 
In his welcome address, Mr. Zafar Bakhtawari, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) re-iterated the commitment of Pakistani people and government for an independent homeland for Palestinian people and withdrawal of Israel from all occupied territories of Palestine.
 
He said Pakistan wanted peace in Palestine so that trade and economic activities could flourish and people of Palestine could enjoy a better living standard. For this purpose, Pakistan has always supported all efforts aimed at resolving the Palestinian dispute in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council Resolutions. He said Pakistani businessmen were ready to cooperate with Palestine for economic development and joint ventures. However, peace was the first requirement to achieve such goals. 
 
Mr. Bakhtawari emphasized that for maintaining world peace, it was vital to address the root causes of terrorism and resolve Palestine & Kashmir issues. He further added that providing Israelis a sense of security was also important as feeling of insecurity in Israelis right from Firaun to Hitler destroyed peace.  
 
ICCI President said that the Arab countries have huge economic potential as the region was endowed with plenty of natural resources. However, solution of Palestinian problem was essential to fully harness and exploit the available trade and economic opportunities of this region.
