Traders ask CDA to take over G-13 Sector for its proper development March 12, 2014
Meeting at ICCI

To develop close interaction with trade associations of various markets and to get a better understanding of the problems of local business community, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry invited a delegation of Traders Welfare Association, G-13, Islamabad that visited ICCI led by its President Abid Khan and Secretary General Rana Altaf.

Addressing the delegation, Shaban Khalid, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry said that the best option for business community to get its problems resolved is to develop strong unity and take consensus stand on important issues. He said all NTN holders should take benefit of Prime Minister’s Amnesty Scheme and file tax returns to contribute their tax share for the development of the country.

He said most of the issues of traders are related to CDA and added that the new management of the civic authority is showing positive approach to address problems. He said G-13 sector has great potential for business and traders should play their role to make this commercial area a model business center. He assured that ICCI would take up their issues at relevant forums for attention and would continue to work for promoting the interests of all businessmen including small traders.

Speaking at the occasion, Abid Khan, President, Traders Welfare Association, Sector G-13, Islamabad said neither CDA nor Housing Foundation was owning G-13 area due to which development works were being ignored and the condition of basic infrastructure in the area was in bad shape. He said CDA should fully own this sector and bring it at part with other developed sectors.

He said ICT administration should establish a police check post in the area as due to absence of proper police force, incidents of theft and burglary were rising in the locality. The traders have to go to Golra Police Station for redress of complaints, but it is far away from the area and availability of check post could provide sufficient relief. He said G-13 trade body would like to work with ICCI for redress of traders’ issues.

Khalid Chaudhry, Senior Vice President, ICCI said broken roads in G-13 needed urgent repair while Housing Foundation was paying no attention. He said CDA should take over this area to improve its development. He said traders showed great unity to deal with parking fee issue and they should develop further unity in their ranks for resolution of their problems.

Naeem Siddiqui, former Chairman ICCI Tax Committee briefed the delegation about the salient features of Prime Minister’s Amnesty Scheme and informed that as to how traders could get benefit from it in filing returns. Rana Altaf, Secretary Genera, Traders Welfare Association, G-13, Saeed Ahmed Bhatti and Mian Khalid also spoke at the occasion.
