ICCI delegation visits China to explore business opportunities May 15, 2014

A delegation of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) led by Mirza Muhammad Ali, Vice President returned after a successful visit to China. The delegation was representing various sectors including IT, electronics, hospitality, services and exports etc. 
 
The delegation participated in Canton Fair held in Guangzhou, China and held matchmaking meetings with Chinese counterparts as well as visited different industrial clusters. The delegation also attended a matchmaking business forum in Zhongshan city, which was organized by the Pakistan Consulate General and Zhongshan Bureau of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (BOFTEC) in which 21 local Chinese companies participated for exploring matchmaking opportunities with Pakistani counterparts.
 
Speaking at the occasion, Mirza Muhammad Ali, Vice President, ICCI briefed the participants about business opportunities and investment potential in various sectors of Pakistan’s economy. He said that Pakistan and China have great prospects to promote cooperation in multiple areas. He said it was encouraging that many Chinese companies were investing in Pakistan and making useful contribution in the economic development of our country. 
 
He stressed upon the businessmen of both countries to take steps for exploitation of Pak-China free trade agreement to realize its full benefits. He said the purpose of our visit to China was to explore more possibilities of establishing joint ventures with Chinese counterparts in areas of mutual interest. 
 
Mr. Richard Liu, Deputy Director General of Zhongshan BOFTEC welcomed the ICCI delegation and said that visit of ICCI delegation as a follow up visit of Zhongshan BOFTEC delegation visit to Pakistan in February this year would further enhance cooperation between Pakistan and China. 
 
Pakistan Consulate General hosted a dinner in honor of ICCI delegation which was attended by about 25 local companies including those from the Guangdong Manufacturers Association participated. The event provided a good platform to interact and explore areas of mutual cooperation. 
 
Businessmen of both countries stressed for frequent exchange of trade delegations to bring private sectors of both countries closer, exchange views, share experiences and explore possibilities of setting up joint ventures in potential areas of cooperation.
