Meeting at ICCI
Presence of Islamabad District Court and ICT Offices in F-8 Markaz poses serious security threats to the lives of Honorable Judges and lawyers as is evident some previous incidents in this area in which many precious lives were lost and has also become a cause of great inconvenience for the residents and traders of the area and government should make necessary arrangements for urgent shifting of district courts and ICT offices from this commercial center to save the lives of Honorable Judges & advocates and the residents & traders from further troubles. This was stressed by Muhammad Ejaz Abbasi, Chairman, ICCI Court Shifting Committee while presiding over the first meeting of the Committee. Mr. Khalid Mehmood Chaudhry Senior Vice President ICCI, Zubair Ahmed Malik former President FPCCI & ICCI, Mr. Khalid Iqbal Malik Senior Member ICCI and Mr. Naeem ur Rehman Piracha Vice Chairman attended the meeting.
Ejaz Abbasi said already 3 serious incidents have occurred in F-8 Markaz in which many precious lives were lost and business activities were badly hit and it is high time that the courts should be shifted from this business center to avoid any further such incidents. He appreciated the government initiative for shifting the offices of Chief Commissioner & Deputy Commissioner ICT from F-8 to G-11/4 and emphasized that the district courts and the remaining ICT offices should also be moved to a safer place where general public should have easy access for getting relief of their problems.
The participants of the meeting said that the construction of Islamabad High Court building is pending since long despite the fact that the PC-1 of the project has already been approved. They appealed to the Ministry of Law & Justice and the CDA to allocate necessary funds for early completion of IHC building so that the IHC could be shifted to its new building. They were of the view that the shifting of IHC would also facilitate the shifting of District Court and ICT Office from F-8 Markaz.
They said apart from courts, many schools and offices have also been setup in this important business center which have created unnecessary rush in the area due to which residents are facing great problems. They said this situation has also created parking problems in the area due to which people are facing problems in parking their vehicles. They said the local administration should look into all these problems and take necessary measures to address them in order to remove the concerns of residents.
