ICCI launches Entrepreneurship Development Center(EDC) July 19, 2011
Economic growth of a country depends on the acceleration of business activities that results in generation of employment for a large number of people. Especially development of SMEs plays an important role in strengthening economy of a country that must be given support to flourish. To promote SMEs, entrepreneurship culture must be developed to create a spirit of entrepreneurship, particularly in youth.

Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry realizing the importance of entrepreneurship, has established “Entrepreneurship Development Center” with the support of Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE). Mr.Hammad Siddiqui, Senior Program Consultant CIPE inaugurated the Center and in his remarks highlighted the importance of Entrepreneurship.

EDC will provide guidance for setting up businesses and to help the existing entrepreneurs in finding the ways to promote their businesses. Students of the universities will be the main focus and through mentorship they will be encouraged to utilize their potential in business for their own sustainability and to support others. Training programs will be organized to give information on the business dynamics and various business registration procedures. Research studies shall be carried out for starting small scale business, whereas Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (SMEDA) has also established its desk to give guidance on various projects.
