Muhammad Ahmed Waheed, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry has demanded that development funds of Islamabad should be increased in the next budget so that the city could develop better and play an active role in improving the economy. He said that development works in Islamabad were stalled for the last many years due to which not only the citizens were facing problems but growth of business and industrial activities was also suffering. He said that street lights in industrial and commercial areas were not working while footpaths and roads were also in broken condition. He further said that sanitation, water and sewerage systems in Islamabad were also in disarray. He said that for the last 4 years, no development work was done in markets and industrial areas due to which the condition of these business and industrial clusters has deteriorated significantly. He emphasized that development budget for Islamabad should be increased to address these issues and urged that CDA & MCI should focus on better development of industrial areas and markets to facilitate the growth of business activities. Muhammad Ahmed Waheed said that Islamabad was the capital of the country so it should be a role model in terms of development for other cities of the country. He appealed to Amir Ali Ahmed, Chairman CDA/Chief Commissioner Islamabad and Sheikh Anser Aziz Mayor Islamabad to plan development projects of Islamabad for the next year in consultation with business community so that with joint efforts, it could be developed as a modern city of the country.
