The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) organized a Christmas ceremony at the Chamber House on Saturday, reaffirming its commitment to promoting interfaith harmony, tolerance and unity in society.
President ICCI Sardar Tahir Mehmood, Secretary General United Business Group (UBG) Zafar Bakhtawari, Senior Vice President ICCI Tahir Ayub and Convener ICCI Interfaith Committee, Ashraf Farzand addressed the ceremony and extended heartfelt Christmas greetings to the Christian community. The speakers paid tribute to the valuable contributions of minorities, particularly the Christian community, in the social and economic development of Pakistan.
ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mehmood, while speaking on the occasion, said that Pakistan is a peace-loving country where followers of all religions enjoy equal rights as enshrined in the Constitution. He emphasized that the business community firmly believes in inclusivity, mutual respect and harmony, adding that ICCI will continue to play a proactive role in strengthening interfaith unity and national cohesion through such initiatives.
Secretary General UBG Zafar Bakhtawari said that Christmas conveys a universal message of love, compassion, forgiveness and service to humanity. He appreciated the role of the Christian community in nation-building and stressed that unity among all segments of society is essential for economic stability, social peace and sustainable development of the country.
Senior Vice President ICCI Tahir Ayub said that celebrations like Christmas at ICCI reflect the true spirit of unity and harmony in Pakistan. He emphasized that respect for all religions and communities is the foundation of a strong and progressive society, adding that ICCI will continue to support initiatives that promote peace, inclusiveness and brotherhood among all citizens.
Pastor Babar Waris read out the message of Jesus Christ, highlighting the importance of peace, love and serving humanity. He appreciated ICCI for organizing the ceremony and for its consistent efforts to promote interfaith understanding.
On the occasion, an impressive cake-cutting ceremony was also held to mark the spirit of Christmas, adding to the festive atmosphere and symbolizing unity, joy and goodwill among the participants.
Executive Member ICCI Zulqurnain Abbasi presented the vote of thanks, while Shahbaz Chohan efficiently moderated the ceremony. A large number of ICCI members and representatives of the Christian community attended the event, making it a memorable and meaningful celebration.The prominent among the attendees included Vice President Irfan Chaudhry Raja Naveed Satti, Khalid Chaudhry, Pastor Nobel Jan, Nisar Mirza,Jamil Khokhar, Haris Bazmi, Ranjeet Singh, Sheeran Aslam,Sozina Younis, Hamera Younus and Maqsood Nazar.
