Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) has strongly condemned over lodging FIR against the President and other members of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry who demonstrated against the gas closure to the industrial units.

Acting President ICCI, Asad Farid and senior members of ICCI expressed concern and demanded withdrawal of the FIRs and said that it was the genuine right of the industrialists and business community to demand uninterrupted gas supply for industries because energy crunch has badly hindered industrial output and manufacturing process.

He said that the entire industry is in deep trouble and thousand of workers are going to lose their jobs due to gas closure. He said that business community of the Federal Capital would also protest against the gas suspension if this practice is not put to an end.

ICCI Acting President said that businessmen can not be frightened by FIRs and they would continue their struggles for getting uninterrupted gas supply for industries.

He indicated that sudden gas supply cuts have negatively impacted the production process and export of value added textiles which was considered to be a major foreign exchange earner of Pakistan has also recorded a steep fall due to gas load shedding and other allied factors.

Asad Farid said that our industrial sector  was still struggling for recovery and it was the need of the hour that Government should have ensured constant supply of basic fuels instead of taking nasty decisions against business community. He urged the Government to ensure continual supply of gas to industrial units and save the economy from total destruction.
