Vice President and Saif ur Rehman Khan Vice President, Islamabad Chamber of
Commerce & Industry have congratulated Pakistan Kabaddi Team on winning
World Cup and added that the whole Pakistani nation was feeling proud on their
great victory in the final against India. They expressed these views while
addressing a meeting of ICCI Sports Committee that was held under the chair of
Zarif Ahmed Khan, Convener, Committee.
Muhammad Ahmed Waheed said that participation of teams of Canada, USA,
Australia, India and other countries in Kabaddi World Cup in Pakistan was proof
of the fact that Pakistan was now a safe country for sports activities. He said that
sports activities played very positive role in promoting business activities and
urged that government should focus on organizing tournaments of various sports
on regular basis that would help in reviving business and economic activities. He
also directed the Convener and members of ICCI Sports Committee to organize
events of various sports so that besides serving the cause of business
community, Chamber could also play due role in promoting sports activities in
the region.
Tahir Abbasi Senior Vice President and Saif ur Rehman Khan Vice President ICCI
said that Chamber will support the Islamabad United in PSL tournament. They
said that the current government has taken a very bold and good decision by
organizing PSL in Pakistan as it would promote soft image of the country and
help in reviving business activities as well.
Zarif Ahmed Khan, Convener, ICCI Sports Committee briefed the participants
about the roadmap of the Committee to organize various sports events including
cricket tournament for special persons. He said that owner of Islamabad United
Ali Naqvi, officials and team members would be invited to ICCI and added that
Sports Committee would fully encourage the Islamabad United in PSL matches.
M. Ashfaq Chatha, Khalid Chaudhry, Saeed Ahmed Bhatti, Naveed Malik, Ahsan
Zafar Bakhtawari, Nisar Mirza, Abbas Hashmi, Wasil Ramzan, Syed Asad Haider,
Asif Shah, M. Nazim Ghauri, Babar Aftab Qazi, Humayun Saleem, M. Kashif
Akram, Ch. M. Ashraf and others also attended the meeting.
