Sultan Azam Taimuri, Assistant Inspector General (Operations) Islamabad Police presented the alleged attackers on President ICCI before a delegation of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry that called on him led by Mr. Shaban Khalid, President. He apologized to ICCI delegation for unfortunate incident, said that legal action will be taken against the police officials found involved in the attack and assured that no such incident will be repeated in future.
AIG Operations said that Islamabad Police will set up a forum with particular focus to maintain close liaison with ICCI to address the issues of business community. The forum will be connected with Rescue-15 to provide quick response and he will personally monitor and supervise its activities.
Sultan Azam Taimuri said the business community remains the backbone of the economy and is playing important role in the development of local economy. He added that Islamabad Police would take all possible measures to facilitate the economic growth. He said Islamabad Police is trying its utmost to maintain law & order situation for establishing peaceful environment He said close cooperation between Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Islamabad Police would yield better results for businessmen and citizens of Islamabad.
Speaking at the occasion, Shaban Khalid, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry said that ICCI has always supported the Islamabad Police in its many initiatives and would continue to cooperate with ICT Police for maintaining a peaceful environment in the federal capital. He said ICCI is apolitical institution without affiliation with any political party and police should cooperate with it for promoting the interests of business community
He stressed that police should treat every citizen with respect and dignity, which will remove trust deficit between citizens and police and improve its image. He also said that deployment of Punjab Police should be minimized in Islamabad and should be restricted to the areas of Dharnas as there are many complaints against Punjab Police personnel.
Khalid Chaudhry Senior Vice President & Muhammad Ali Mirza Vice President ICCI, Mr. Munawar Mughal, Vice President FPCCI, M/s. Abdul Rauf, Khalid Javed, Tariq Sadiq & Mian Shaukat Masud former Presidents ICCI also expressed their views and stressed upon the need of healthy and close relations between ICT Police and ICCI. They said a special desk should be set up in Islamabad Police to deal with the issues of business community including the free movement of goods and raw material to industries and markets.
