The upcoming government should consult major chambers of commerce for policy making as business community could give better suggestions on any problems faced by country.
These remarks were made by Mr.Tariq Saeed, Chairman Business Panel Group, Former President FPCCI and Vice President CACCI on the occasion of a dinner hosted by Mian Akram Farid, Former President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI). Mr.Tariq Saeed said that He said that business community should be consulted in upcoming budget making process as they played an important role in country’s economic growth.
Mr.Iftikhar Ali Malik vice president of Saarc CCI, former FPCCI and co-chairman of Business Panel Group stressed on developing strong networking among the chambers and business associations of the country for effective advocacy on common issues.
Mr.Zubair Ahmed Malik, President FPCCI said that close liaison between FPCCI and all chambers is vital to raise a united voice of the business community, adding that Pakistan was facing multiple economic challenges including rising budget deficit, circular debt and low tax revenue. Therefore, we call upon the new government to start immediate consultation with business leaders to steer the country out of this difficult situation, he added.
Senator Haji Ghulam Ali, former President FPCCI said that the business community has been helping the government in achieving economic targets, therefore, by recognizing the efforts of the business community in developing the national economy, the government should resolve the problems being faced by the community.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Zafar Bakhtawari, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry stressed that new government should give top priority to improving economy as Pakistan cannot make sound progress without turning around its sagging economy. Mr.Bakhtawari said that there must be continued process of table talks between the representatives of public and private sector and the government should give weightage to the voice of the private sector.
Mian Akram Farid, Former President ICCI urged the upcoming Government to build the confidence of businessmen by ensuring supply of electricity and gas to the industrial units that are required to pull the wheel of economy and acceleration of trade and investment in the country.
