Senate Chairman assures for new rent law in Islamabad

A delegation of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry led by Khalid Chaudhry, Senior Vice President called on Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, Chairman Senate and apprised him of various issues being faced by the business community.
Addressing the delegation, Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari said that domicile holder of Islamabad is not provided job in any province, but residents of all provinces are employed in the federal government. He said residents of Islamabad should be given preference in federal jobs up to Grade-15. 
He said rent control act is a long standing demand of the federal capital, but no government made any serious effort to address this issue. He assured that bill of new rent law will soon be presented in the Senate for its enactment to pave way for cordial relations between the landlords and the tenants.
Speaking at the occasion, Khalid Chaudhry, Senior Vice President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry apprised the Chairman Senate of the various problems of trade and industry. He said businessmen are playing crucial role in improving the local economy, but are facing many issues in running business activities. 
He said due to absence of a balanced rent law, traders were feeling insecure as a landlord could force them for vacation of shop by giving a simple notice. He said many private housing societies have developed housing sectors in Islamabad, but CDA laws are not levied on them and people have to comply with two separate building laws in Islamabad. He appealed to the CDA to take over all housing projects in Islamabad for compliance with one building law.
