ICCI Vice President for lifting ban on construction activities in Murree along with declaring IT tourism city

Muhammad Ishtiaq Qureshi, Vice President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry has called upon Mian Shahbaz Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab to lift ban on construction activities in Murree which was imposed on political basis due to which developmental activities in Murree has come to a standstill. This he said while exchanging views with a delegation of Murree residents. He said TMA has demolished many buildings in Murree by declaring them dangerous and owners have obtained the approval of new building maps. But due to current ban on construction in Murree, they are unable to start construction activities. He said this factor large number of laborers has been rendered jobless while many of them have moved to other places in search of jobs. He said a Steering Committee under the chair of MNA Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is working in consultation with Raja Ashfaq Sarwar to solve the problems of Murree but due to ban, they are not in a position to take measures for making Murree more beautiful.

ICCI Vice President said summer season has now set in Murree due to which large number of visitors is expected to visit this hilly area. But the condition of dug up roads will create traffic problems. He said National Highway has made this road Express Way which has not been opened officially as yet. He appealed to the Chief Minister of Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif to make a task force comprising public representatives to take care of Murree’s problems and declare it a Tourism City. Moreover, enhanced security measures may be taken for the protection of tourists for making a tourism force so that people could visit Murree without any fear.
