Nasir Mansoor Qureshi, President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) has urged the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to prioritize the construction of the much-needed Parking Plaza in I-8 Markaz for the benefit of both visitors and traders. He made this appeal while addressing a delegation of traders from I-8, led by Waheed Cheema, President of the Traders Welfare Association (TWA) of the area.
President Qureshi emphasized the need for all relevant government departments to collaborate with ICCI and the Traders Welfare Associations to make Islamabad cleaner, greener, and more welcoming for visitors. He highlighted the business community's vital role in the country’s economic growth but expressed concern that businesses often face unnecessary obstacles and lack the recognition they deserve.
In addition, he informed the delegation about ICCI’s plans to organize an Eid Festival during the last Ashra of Ramadan, in collaboration with various stakeholders, particularly the Chain Store Association of Pakistan. He assured the traders that the necessary authorities, including CDA would be approached to address issues like sanitation, sewage, security, and parking.
Nasir Qureshi also shared that the CDA Chairman has committed to visiting the ICCI soon to discuss these issues, with representatives from each Traders Welfare Association to be invited to participate. He urged the business community to stay united for their own well-being and the development of the country.
The President of TWA I-8, Waheed Cheema, outlined several challenges facing the center, including issues related to street lighting, footpaths, security cameras, and the delayed Parking Plaza. He also called for better representation of I-8 in future ICCI activities and pledged support to the Founder group.
Chairman Yassar Abbasi expressed concern over the CDA’s slow response to upgrading the area. Meanwhile, General Secretary Rana Bilal proposed the establishment of a Real Estate Authority to ease business operations.
ICCI Senior Vice President Abdul Rehman Siddiqi reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to supporting business activities, while Vice President Nasir Mehmood Chaudhry assured the traders that their concerns would be addressed. The meeting was moderated by former Senior Vice President Khalid Chaudhry, with several ICCI Executive Members in attendance, including Zulqurnain Abbasi, Chaudhry Irfan, Imran Minhas, Ishaq Sial, Waseem Chaudhry, and Malik Abdul Aziz.
