A delegation of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry led by Acting President Khalid Chaudhry visited Karachi Company, Islamabad to congratulate the newly elected Office Bearers of Traders Welfare Association, G-9 Markaz.
Speaking at the occasion, Khalid Chaudhry said that promulgation of a balanced rent control in Islamabad is a long-standing issue of the local traders as due to its absence, they always feel insecure. He said the present government has a business friendly approach and it should address this issue on priority to safeguard the interests of business community.
He said the prevailing rent law provides a tenant right of only one appeal against the decision of a civil court while the culprit of a murder has the right of appeal to the Supreme Court. Thus the current law is against the interests of tenants. He said the problems of commercial and residential areas are different so separate rent laws should be enacted for commercial and residential tenants. He called upon the local elected representatives to honor their promise which they had made during their election campaigns for promulgation of a balanced rent control act in Islamabad after coming into power.
