The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry successfully organized a Business Opportunities Conference (BOC) at JW Marriott, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with the aim to promote business linkages between the private sectors of Pakistan and Malaysia and improve bilateral trade relations between the two countries. Ahmad Khairuddin Bin Abdul Rahim, Senior Executive Director, Strategic Planning & Development (Manufacturing & Services) of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) was the Chief Guest at the occasion. H.E. Ikram Mohammad Ibrahim. High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan, H.E. Atif Sharif Mian, Acting High Commissioner of Pakistan to Malaysia, Rafat Farid Senior Vice President, Iftikhar Anwar Sethi Vice President ICCI and Sheikh Amir Waheed former President ICCI were also present at the occasion.
A large delegation of ICCI representing various sectors including oil & ghee, textiles, garments, fabrics, soaps & chemicals, food & food machinery, real estate & construction, pharmaceuticals, hospitality, automobile, jewellery, super markets/cash & carry, furniture and others participated in the BOC.
Addressing the BOC, Ahmed Hassan Moughal, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry said that ICCI has brought a large business delegation to Malaysia in order to promote direct connectivity between the entrepreneurs of both countries that would help in promoting bilateral trade ties. He said that Malaysia was chosen for BOC as it offered tremendous prospects for trade and investment in multiple fields. He also apprised Malaysian about investment opportunities in various sectors of Pakistan’s economy including SEZs under CPEC and urged that Malaysian counterparts should visit Pakistan to explore JVs and investment in areas of interest. He thanked H.E. Ikram Mohammad Ibrahim, High Commissioner of Malaysia in Pakistan and H.E. Atif Sharif Mian, Acting High Commissioner of Pakistan for Malaysia for their cooperation and support in organizing BOC in Malaysia successfully.
Ahmad Khairuddin Bin Abdul Rahim, Senior Executive Director, Strategic Planning & Development (Manufacturing & Services) of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and Chief Guest lauded the initiative of ICCI for organizing BOC in Malaysia as it would help in developing strong business linkages between Pakistan and Malaysia. He said that organizing such events on reciprocal basis was important to promote bilateral trade and investment between Pakistan and Malaysia up to their real potential.
H.E. Ikram Mohammad Ibrahim, High Commissioner of Malaysia in Pakistan and H.E. Atif Sharif Mian, Acting High Commissioner of Pakistan for Malaysia also addressed the BOC and assured that they would continue to facilitate the private sectors of both countries for promoting trade relations. Rafat Farid, Senior Vice President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry thanked the participants for attending BOC. Both sides held B2B meetings and discussed possibilities for promoting business collaborations in areas of interest.
