The business community is the backbone of country's economy and the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) is committed to address the challenges faced by the fraternity. This was stated by Khalid Iqbal Malik, Chairman of Founder Group and former Presidents Zubair Ahmed Malik, Khalid Javaid, and Shaikh Tariq Sadiq during a meeting with a delegation of Traders Welfare Association, G-10 Markaz, led by its President Ikhlaq Abbasi at the Chamber House on Monday.
The ICCI leaders emphasized that the business community is currently facing numerous challenges and not getting a level playing field for ease of doing business, as policies are being made without their input. They urged the government to broaden the tax net instead of pressurizing existing taxpayers and revisit decisions, particularly contracts with Independent Power Producers, which are the root cause of many problems.
The delegation briefed the ICCI veterans on the community's issues, including unfair property and other taxes imposed by the Municipal Corporation Islamabad. Earlier, the delegation congratulated Engineer Azhar ul Islam Zafar, Faizan Shehzad, and Dr. Usman on assuming the roles of Acting President, Senior Vice President, and Vice President, respectively.
