Muhammad Ahmed Waheed, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry said that Jinnah Super Market was the face of Islamabad, but traders of market were facing great problems due to mushrooming encroachments on footpaths, therefore, he called upon MCI to remove all encroachments to Jinnah Super Market as soon as possible. He said that MCI has allowed setting up stalls on footpaths in markets including Jinnah Super Market, but these stalls were creating problems for traders and giving rise to encroachments. He said this while addressing a delegation of Traders Welfare Association (TWA), Jinnah Super Market, Islamabad that visited ICCI led by its President Malik Rab Nawaz. Asad Aziz Senior Vice President, Ch. Ashraf Vice President, Abdul Rehman Siddiqui Secretary General, Fasih Ullah Khan Joint Secretary, Abrar Ahmed Finance Secretary, Abdul Malik Press Secretary and others were in the delegation. Muhammad Ejaz Abbasi Vice President FPCCI, Ajmal Baloch, Ch. Nadeem ud Din, Khalid Chaudhry and representatives of other markets were also present at the occasion.
Muhammad Ahmed Waheed said that CDA had constructed a parking in Jinnah Super by spending millions of rupees, but it was not made operational as yet due to which traders were unable to utilize it. He said that CDA should provide lights, security guards, sanitation staff and other facilities for parking to make it operational. He assured the delegation that ICCI would fully cooperate for resolving key issues of Jinnah Super Market.
Speaking at the occasion, Malik Rab Nawaz President and Abdul Rehman Siddiqui Secretary General, Traders Welfare Association, Jinnah Super, Islamabad said that CDA and MCI were not paying attention to resolve issues of markets due to which traders were suffering. They said that sewerage system in Jinnah Supper was not functioning properly due to which filthy water was flowing on roads spreading smell in the area. They said that CDA has not done any development work in Jinnah Super for the last many years due to which traders were facing problems. They said that whenever a transformer burnt in the market, IESCO was asking owners of shops to replace it at their own cost while it was the responsibility of IESCO to change such burnt transformers. They called upon the CDA, MCI and IESCO to address the key issues of Jinnah Super market to facilitate the growth of trade activities.
Tahir Abbasi Senior Vice President, Saif ur Rahman Khan Vice President ICCI, Muhammad Ejaz Abbasi Vice President FPCCI, Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, Ajmal Baloch, Ch. Nadeem ud Din, Tahir Ayub, Khalid Chaudhry and others also spoke at the occasion and stressed upon CDA and MCI to focus on better development of Jinnah Super Market, Islamabad.
