Former Senator and PTI leader Syed Zafar Ali Shah desired that the government should take all possible measures to address the concerns of traders on tax measures including installation of POS and digital payments as taking traders into confidence was important to improve the economy and steer the country out of troubled waters. He said this while addressing the business community during his visit to Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He also congratulated Muhammad Shakeel Munir President, Jamshaid Akhtar Sheikh Senior Vice President and Muhammad Faheem Khan Vice President ICCI on their election. Muhammad Ejaz Abasi & Baser Daud former Presidents ICCI, Khalid Chaudhry & Muhammad Naveed Malik former Senior Vice Presidents ICCI, Raja Safeer and others were also present at the occasion.
Syed Zafar Ali Shah said that the business community was playing important role in the economic development of the country and the government should focus on promoting ease of doing business to enable the business and investment activities flourish in the country. He said that the election of new Office Bearers of ICCI was a right choice as they have the potential and talent to contribute for the welfare of the business community.
Speaking at the occasion, Muhammad Shakeel Munir, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry welcomed the decision of FBR to extend the deadline of digital payments by corporate sector up to Nov 30, 2021 and stressed that the government should remove all reservations of the business community before implementation of this new payment mechanism. He said that the traders have many concerns on the installation of point of sale devices in retail units and urged that the FBR should defer POS till all the concerns of traders were addressed. He thanked Syed Zafar Ali Shah for visiting ICCI to congratulate the new Office Bearers.
Jamshaid Akhtar Sheikh, Senior Vice President ICCI said that the business community was still struggling to combat the impact of Covid-19 pandemic and the government should consider relief measures for them to revive the business activities.
Muhammad Faheem Khan, Vice President ICCI said that the Chamber would like to take benefit from the vast experience of Syed Zafar Ali Shah to resolve the issues of business community more effectively.
