Businessmen in a hurriedly called meeting at Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) strongly condemned chained together terrorists attacks in Lahore on FIA Building, Manawa Police Training Centre and Bedian Elite Force Training Centre which were aimed at tarnishing the image of the country. They saluted the law enforcement agencies for bravely fighting the terrorists and prayed for the departed souls who sacrificed their lives in service of country.

Zahid Maqbool, President, ICCI addressing the meeting said that economy of Pakistan had just started to show some positive signs and businessmen were getting optimistic about better days to come but added that such attacks could reverse country’s forward movement.

He said with the improvement in macro economic indicators of the country, foreign investors were now eyeing Pakistan as a potential market and expressed apprehensions that these incidents will compel the prospective investors to think twice before making any decision to invest in Pakistan.

He said the sudden increase in acts of terrorism and suicide bombings in last few days seemed to be the result of a well thought-out conspiracy against Pakistan. Therefore, he stressed that all leaders of the political parties and the government should join hands and put their heads together to form a solid strategy to weed out the menace of terrorism which was hitting the very basis of the country.

Businessmen said such heinous acts should be eye-opener for the entire nation and called upon all segments of the society to get united in this hour of need and fully back up the government in its efforts to eliminate anti-Pakistan elements.

They said if the nation wanted to rid the country of terrorism and militancy; every one would have to contribute to preempt such cowardly incidents so that business activities could grow smoothly and Pakistan’s economy could become stronger.
