Zahid Maqbool, President, Karim Aziz Malik and Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, Vice Presidents and Executive Members of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) in a meeting at ICCI greatly lauded Parliamentary Committee on Constitutional Reforms (PCCR) for tabling the 18th Constitutional Amendment Bill in both houses of parliament.

They termed it a landmark development in the history of Pakistan as it will usher in an era of prospering democracy, political stability and economic development.

They congratulated all political parties for developing consensus on this revolutionary document and appreciated their efforts which will go a long way in improving the image of country and promoting economic interests of Pakistan.

Zahid Maqbool urged all political leaders to display same spirit of teamwork and come up with optimum solutions of the problems so that the country could be steered out of current difficulties with consensus decisions.

He said after achieving this remarkable success, government should now focus all its energies on improving the economy by creating a business friendly environment because without strengthening economy, Pakistan will never be able to get a respectable place in the comity of nations.

Businessmen said that factors like frequent hikes in the prices of power, gas and POL products, energy shortage, power outages, high interest rate and surging inflation have jeopardized the commercial viability of manufacturing and industrial units and it was high time that government should address these problems on priority.

They said Pakistan was already way behind in the race of development while its regional competitors were achieving phenomenal economic progress and added that revolutionary steps were required to enable Pakistan to catch up with emerging economies.

Zahid Maqbool said that government should consult with business leaders of the country and develop a comprehensive strategy to cope with current challenges so that Pakistan could emerge as a preferred place for inflow of investment and technology.
