Atif Ikram Sheikh President, Sheikh Pervez Ahmed Senior Vice President and Sheikh Abdul Waheed Vice President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that CDA has finally started the process of repairing the Islamabad Dry Port road which was a laudable step, however, the slow pace of repair work on this important project was a cause of concern as it was creating problems for exporters/importers of this region apart from engulfing the whole area in dust.
They said ICCI had been demanding since long for expansion of Islamabad Dry Port road and repair of existing road and they appreciated the initiative of Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Dr. Tariq Fazl Chaudhry and Capital development Authority (CDA) Chairman Maroof Afzal for the approval of Islamabad dry port road repair work. However, they said keeping in view the importance of this road for business activities, CDA should complete this project on priority basis.
They said the roads and other infrastructure in industrial areas of Islamabad including I-9, I-10 and Kahuta Industrial Triangle were in pathetic condition and despite many requests to CDA, no attention was being paid to these issues. They called upon the CDA to undertake repair of roads and basic infrastructure in these industrial areas on urgent basis as upgrading roads and other facilities in these areas was essential requirement to promote investment and industrialization in this region.
