Culture a significant tool to boost socio-economic development – Muhammad Tauseef Zaman

Pakistan is known with its cultural occasions and colorful festivals in the entire world. Cultural festivals would help to promote trade and business activities, investment and soft image of the country, Muhammad Tauseef Zaman, Vice President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) has said, while addressing the Regional Cultural Festival, 2011 held at Rawal Lake, Islamabad which was supported by CDA, Islamabad Police and PEMRA.

He said that we should work for image building of Pakistan by the promotion of its soft culture and rich heritage. To promote and introduce Pakistan’s traditional sports and handicrafts, such culture festivals have to be organized in future as well, he added.

Muhammad Tauseef Zaman said that Government of Pakistan should attach highest importance to the development of culture as it is a very useful instrument in fighting the forces of intolerance, violence and terrorism in the society. He said that these events could make the federal capital a hub of cultural activities and provided a creative platform for the young entrepreneurs.

Due to the terrorist activities, these events have been suffering but to recoup the losses of the past cultural festivals should be organized and supported by large entities, he opinioned.

Speaking on the occasion, Shahid ur Rehman, Chairman Mining & Mineral Association appreciated the organizers of Regional Culture Festival for organizing this activity and said that such events brought smiles on the faces of people who were confronted with many challenges like inflation, power shortages and terrorism.
