Ahmed Hassan Moughal President, Rafat Farid Senior Vice President and Iftikhar Anwar Sethi Vice President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) have strongly condemned terrorists attack on Chinese Consulate at Karachi and suicide bomb blast in Orakzai Bazaar in which around 38 people lost their lives and many were injured. They expressed heartfelt condolences for the bereaved families and prayed that Allah the Almighty may keep the departed souls in eternal peace. They said the business community and whole nation was standing with the bereaved families in their hour of grief and sorrow.
They said that the cowardice and nefarious attack on the Chinese Consulate at Karachi seemed to be a conspiracy to sabotage the CPEC and growing friendship between Pakistan and China as the anti-Pakistan elements could not bear to see Pakistan develop and progress. However, they reaffirmed that the business community along with the entire nation was standing shoulder-to-shoulder with armed forces, police and security agencies to end terrorism from the country.
ICCI Office Bearers said that from 2001-2017, Pakistan’s economy over USD122 billion loss due to incidents of terrorism which showed that terrorists badly damaged our economy. He said that armed forces and law enforcement agencies, after rendering great sacrifices and making untiring efforts, were able to control terrorism to a great extent restoring peace in the country which was basic requirement for business activities and investment to flourish. However, they said that still some elements were bent upon disturbing peace in the country to sabotage the great prospects of business and investment opportunities created by the CPEC.
They stressed that the government should develop a new strategy to cope with terrorism and ensure its full implementation so that terrorists could be completed eliminated from the country to put Pakistan on the path of sustainable economic growth. They assured that the business community would fully cooperate with the government in such efforts as complete restoration of peace was essential for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
