ICCI for introducing entrepreneurship curriculum in schools

Government should introduce entrepreneurship curriculum right from the schools to develop a nation-wide entrepreneurial human resource base in the country.

Zahid Maqbool, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) said this while presiding over a meeting of ICCI Sub-Committee on Youth Affairs.

He said more than 50 percent population of the country is comprised of youth, but they are facing problems in getting employment as government cannot provide jobs to every one and country needs a vibrant private sector to absorb burgeoning youth.

He said introduction of entrepreneurship curriculum in schools will develop an entrepreneurial population at the grassroots level which will contribute effectively to the bottom-up development of a competitive private sector.

Zahid Maqbool said the entrepreneurial mindset that the youth will acquire at school level will enable them to develop entrepreneurial skills at formative age and after completing education, start new ventures for promoting jobs, income and national wealth.

The Committee members appreciated this proposal and said that such meaningful education will promote business activities at grassroots level in urban and rural areas paving way for fast track economic growth of the country
