ICCI for withdrawal of fake Fir against super market traders

  • November 08, 2013
Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) has called upon the Capital Development Authority to revise its decision of levying a new tax in the form of car parking fee in Islamabad’s markets as it is against the interest of business activities.

Chairing a meeting of local traders, Khalid Chaudhry, Acting President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry said that a meeting of the representatives of federal capital’s markets has been called in ICCI on 12th November 2013 to consider the negative impact of parking fees in markets and to develop a future course of strategy to deal with this matter.

He said imposition of parking fee has created law and order situation in Super Market Islamabad and CDA got registered a fake FIR against traders which is not based on facts. It seems that some hidden powers are active in Islamabad not only to create law & order problems during the Muharram ul Harram, but also to pit the traders against the government.

Khalid Chaudhry said CDA should take all stakeholders in confidence before considering imposition of any new tax. As there is no provincial assembly in the federal capital, no new tax should be enforced without the approval of National Assembly.

He said Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Federal Minister for Interior has announced to gradually remove the entry fee in Islamabad, but in violation of his orders, CDA has levied a new tax, which will have a negative impact on the growth of business activities.

He said business community is quite concerned and disappointed over CDA’s decision and appealed to the Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and the Interior Minister Ch. Nisar Ali Khan to issue orders to CDA for withdrawal of parking fee in Islamabad’s markets to remove the concerns of businessmen.

Khalid Chaudhry also condemned the registration of fake FIR against Mr. Saeed Khan Chairman, Muhammad Hussain General Secretary and other traders of Super Market, Islamabad and appealed to the IG Police Islamabad to issue instructions for thorough investigation of the matter to do justice with traders.
