  • June 24, 2016
Sheikh Pervez Ahmed, Acting President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry has said that CDA has started the process of repairing roads in various sectors of Islamabad which was laudable initiative. However, the quality of work was sub-standard due to which repaired roads, especially in I-10 sector were quite uneven and bumpy. He urged that CDA should ensure good quality repair of roads because their sub-standard repair was just wastage of money.

He said that monsoon season was around the corner and he was afraid that poor quality repair of roads would create more potholes on such roads making them risky for travelling. He urged that CDA’s Roads Directorate should make arrangements for proper monitoring of repair work to ensure quality repair of roads. He said streets roads in I-10 sector were broken for the last 10 years and stressed that CDA should focus on urgent repair of street roads to facilitate the residents.

He said many sectors of Islamabad were facing serious water crisis. He said industrial areas in I-9 and I-10 sectors and the residents were the worst hit areas in terms of water crisis and he stressed that CDA should arrange tube wells in such areas as the civic body’s water supply system has failed to ensure regular supply of water in many sectors of the federal capital. He said water tanker mafia was fully exploiting this situation to mint money as people were forced to get water from tankers. He said CDA should pay urgent attention to this serious issue as people were facing extreme problems due to non-availability of water in the prevailing hot summer.

Acting President ICCI said that many water tankers of CDA were reportedly out of order and this situation was contributing to worsen the water crisis in the federal capital. He stressed that CDA should arrange bores in all areas worst hit by water crisis to ensure regular supply of water which was basic need of human life.
