ICCI to send trucks of relief goods to flood affectees

Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) has appealed to the businessmen to deposit their donations in cash or kind in the Chamber so that sufficient number of required relief goods could be provided to the flood affectees.

Mr.Zahid Maqbool, President, ICCI in his appeal said that the ongoing unprecedented torrential rains and flash floods have caused immense human and financial loss to our country and it is the need of the hour that business community should come forward with generous donations so that maximum relief could be provided to the uprooted families.

The traders were asked to provide their donations to Chamber by Saturday (today) as ICCI was planning to send trucks of relief goods to flood hit areas by coming Monday.

He said apart from loss of thousands of precious lives, large number of houses have been completely washed away in many areas of the country. Therefore, it is the responsibility of philanthropists and well-to-do persons to rise up to the occasion and contribute wholeheartedly to the ongoing relief efforts for the affected ones.

Mr.Zahid Maqbool also appealed to the nation to actively participate in the ongoing efforts for relief and rehabilitation of millions of people displaced by floods in the country.

He said the flood-affected people were facing acute problems and some were even fighting for their survival. Therefore, the nation should play its positive role and contribute its share to provide reasonable shelter and food to the affectees.
