Load Shedding & inflation stalling the growth of industry – Mian Shaukat Masud

Load shedding and high inflation were proving a great hurdle in the promotion of industry due to which industrialization process in the country had almost come to a halt and government should take urgent measures to solve these problems.

This was said by Mian Shaukat Masud speaking as a chief guest at an Iftar Dinnar given by Mr. Afsar Khan, President, Traders Welfare Association Food Green General Merchant, Sabzi Mandi, I-11/4, Islamabad in honor of business leaders and traders.

CDA Labor Union General Secretary Ch. Muhammad Yasin, speaking on the occasion, stressed for the need of creating more unity between traders and CDA labor union for developing Islamabad on modern lines with joint efforts.  He said there should be no political intervention in elections of CDA unions and trade associations as it was against the spirit of democracy.

ICCI former President Munawar Mughal and Chairman Founder Group Khalid Javed addressing the audience said that ICCI was playing a vital role for facilitating the growth of trade and industry and for resolving business community’s problems. Therefore, maximum traders should become member of ICCI to further strengthen it.

They said majority of ICCI members were small traders while many market representatives were the members of ICCI Executive Committee, which showed the commitment of ICCI to serve small traders. Therefore, there was no justification for any small traders’ chamber in Islamabad.

Organizing Secretary of Traders Action Committee Ajmal Baloch stressed for the need of promulgation of a fair and balanced Rent Control Act in Islamabad to stem the rising trend of rent disputes and forced eviction of traders from shops as this situation was disturbing the peace of Islamabad.

Afsar Khan, President, Traders Welfare Association Food Green General Merchant Association, business leaders Khalid Mehmood Chaudhry, Abdul Khaliq, Ch. Irfan, Mehboob Khan and large number of traders participated in the Iftar Dinner.
