Pak-Turk strategic relations must be strengthened to boost trade and investment-Shahid Zaman Shinwari

A business delegation of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) led by its Vice President has visited turkey and met with Dr. Ismail, Deputy General secretary, TIM, Turkey.

Speaking on the occasion, Shahid Zman Shinwari, Vice President ICCI said that Turkeys is one of several countries to have diplomatic and economic relations with Pakistan but bilateral trade between Pakistan and Turkey is still below the potential and both countries should work closely to explore the untapped areas.

He exchanged views on common interests and agreed to strengthen economic relations between the two countries.

Vice President said that by increasing people to people contract, bilateral trade between Pakistan and Turkey could be enhanced. He suggested that cooperation could be enhanced in petroleum, energy, tourism, surgical, sports goods, textile, agro, pharmaceutical and marble sectors. 

He said that marble and granite sector was fast growing sector in Pakistan with huge investment potential, adding that Turkish business community should come forward and invest in marble and granite industry.

Dr. Ismail, Deputy General secretary, TIM said that Pakistan and Turkey enjoyed excellent bilateral relations and the recent visit would further give impetus to our friendly relations. He said that business delegation exchanges were in the interest of both the countries and the two must focus on enhancing trade cooperation through frequent exchange of delegations.
