Polish businessmen looking for investment in various sectors

A delegation of businessman from Poland visited Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) for B2B meetings with Pakistani entrepreneurs having common interest in various fields. The delegation visit was arranged with the assistance of BOI.

The delegation comprising of Mr. Piotr Ciecwierz, Deputy Director, Department of Economic Diplomacy, Mr. Mariusz Kremplewski, Export Manager, LUBAWA SA, Mr. Piotr Szewczyk, Director General, CanAgri, Mr. Zbigniew Wyszomirski, Counselor and Mr. Waldemar Bak, Deputy Director, Polish Oil & Gas Company. The delegation was on visit to Pakistan along with Polish Foreign Minister, H.E.Mr. Rodoslaw Sirkorski, aimed to improve bilateral trade between the two countries. 

Mahfooz Elahi, President, ICCI expressing his views, said that Pakistan considers Poland an important place in European Union but due to lack of exchange of business delegations and interaction between the private sectors, the trade was much below the potential. He highlighted textile, agri-based and defense industry in which companies could collaborate for joint venture investment.

President ICCI said that diversification of exports both in terms of markets and goods were essential for enhancing bilateral trade. Thus, there was a dire need to broaden the export spectrum beyond traditional exports to include non-traditional items. He was of the opinion that both countries should go for joint ventures and also study each other market to look at the possibilities of joining hands in different sectors.

The Polish delegates has expressed interest in promoting trade and economic relations. The delegation stressed the need for close cooperation and showed interest in putting a sizable investment in Pakistan.

Mr. Piotr Ciecwierz, Deputy Director, Department of Economic Diplomacy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Poland sees Pakistan as an important partner in Southeast Asia. He said that Polish businessmen were interested to support the private sector development by promoting economic co-operation between the business sectors of the two countries.

Mr. Waldemar Bak, Deputy Director, Polish Oil & Gas Company said that several Polish companies in the gas and oil sectors have already been rendering their services in Pakistan. He said that the aim of their visit to ICCI was to explore the possibilities of investment potential in the fields of oil and gas, steel, infrastructure, engineering and agro-food sectors.
