Business community in a meeting at Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry has called upon the government for urgent restoration of Federal High Court in Islamabad as due to its absence, they have to suffer a lot in getting quick justice.
They said establishment of a Federal High Court was the right step of previous government as businessmen and people were spared of the trouble to go to Rawalpindi and other areas for their court cases. However, consequent upon the decision of Supreme Court on NRO on July 31, 2009 the said court came to an end due to which traders are now facing many problems.
Chairing the meeting, Zahid Maqbool, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry said that Federal High Court was proving very beneficial to business community and the citizens of Islamabad as it was providing them quick justice while now they have to waste lot of time and incur trouble by going to Rawalpindi and other places for getting justice.
He said along with Federal High Court, government should look for establishing Anti-Terrorist Court, NAB Court and Banking Court in the federal capital as it is the right of its residents to have these courts in their local area.
He said the citizens of Islamabad were assured of establishing Federal High Court through a legislation, but they are still waiting for fulfillment of this promise.
Businessmen said that setting up a Federal High Court and other courts will not only facilitate the local people in getting easy justice, it will also create many job opportunities and thus will help in alleviating poverty.
They called upon the legislators to take urgent steps for restoring or establishing Federal High Court by getting a legislation passed from both houses of the parliament so that businessmen and people of Islamabad could take a sigh of relief.
