The United Business Group (UBG), which is currently ruling the FPCCI, has nominated Zafar Bakhtawari, former President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry as a candidate for Vice President of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the FPCCI elections for the year 2016. The elections of FPCCI are scheduled to be held on 30th December 2015.
Zafar Bakhtawari is the Chairman of D.Watson Group and a renowned businessman of the federal capital. He has good reputation in business, diplomatic, literary and social circles of the country and has represented the voice of the business community at various forums including print and electronic media.
Endorsing his nomination as Vice President FPCCI, Atif Ikram Sheikh, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that Zafar Bakhtawari is an experienced business leader and hoped that if elected, he would play a proactive role for resolving the issues of the business community.
He said that high tax rates on trade and industry, energy shortage, higher power tariffs and many other factors were the major challenges constraining the growth of business and industrial activities in the country while the urgent redress of these issues could put the country on fast track of economic growth.
He hoped that if elected as Vice President FPCCI, Zafar Bakhtawari would play an effective role from the platform of the apex trade body of the country for getting these challenges addressed on priority so that trade and industry could flourish in a conducive environment and businessmen could be able to make more contribution towards strengthening the economy.
